“I’ve been looking for a sound that makes my heart sing; I’ve been looking for a melody that makes the church bells ring; Not looking for the fame or the fortune it might bring in love, music, or life” (Zac Brown). I’ve been listening to these lyrics over and over during the past few weeks while trying to figure out what it is God is leading me to do in life. In today’s world kids are expected to have a plan coming out of high school and are pressured to feel as if they don’t it’s not okay. Well here I am now having just turned 21 only days ago and the feeling of uneasiness has yet to change. As where most of my friends are years into their college degrees and many of whom will graduate over the next year I am not even close. To make it all that much better I am also trying to decipher whether God is leading me to partake in the World Race sometime this coming year. This has been a crazy balancing act of trying to weigh whether another year basically is something I can stand to give up in a chance to travel the world and spread God’s love and mercy.
During my time I’ve been blessed with here in Seronga, Botswana I have grown to realize more and more that God likes to answer our questions for him in his time. I’ve also come to realize that if we truly want to have our questions answered by God then we have to be willing to open our eyes and ears completely to him. Before leaving Atlanta on June 2nd we had a day and a half training camp at the Holiday Inn and discussed a form of prayer called the “Listening Prayer”. Being my first time hearing the concept I figured I’d give it a try because I was having no luck on hearing God talk to me about my calling. It turns out that it has been a blessing and I’ve gotten much farther in my journey with Christ just from this alone. Actually listening for God to talk to me has been a major struggle in my faith so experiencing it through the course of this trip has been an amazing experience for me.
With only nine days left to spend with our team here at Delta Cross Ministries, I am looking to capitalize on every second of it! I cannot wait to see the many ways to come that God will move our team as well as myself. This has been an amazing experience to start of my missionary experience and look forward to the many new experiences yet to come! To cap this off I’ll leave you with one of the bible verses I have been trying to focus on and grasp during my time here: “ I will instruct you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” (Psalms 32:8).
